THE MAN BEHIND THE BOURBON
For Steve Higdon, bourbon has never been just a spirit — it’s a way of life. Growing up in the rolling hills of Kentucky, he was surrounded by the heritage and culture of America’s native spirit long before he ever took his first sip.
What started as a curiosity evolved into a deep passion. After years of visiting distilleries, attending barrel selections, building relationships with master distillers, and expanding his own collection, Steve decided to formalize his expertise. He earned the title of Executive Bourbon Steward through the prestigious Stave & Thief Society — the highest level of bourbon certification available.
But Steve isn’t the type to keep his knowledge behind glass. He believes bourbon is best shared — around a table, on a porch, with good people. That philosophy is what led him to create The Bourb Inn: a place where guests don’t just stay near the Bourbon Trail, they experience it with someone who knows it inside and out.
When he’s not hosting guests or reviewing bourbons, Steve spends his time with his family, exploring new releases, and building connections within the bourbon community through the Big Bourbon Club. For Steve, every pour tells a story — and he loves nothing more than sharing it with you.

Steve served as President + CEO of Greater Louisville Inc., the Metro Chamber of Commerce, for nearly seven years.
